The Submagic Alternative
Submagic is a strong caption and short-video editor, but it has no ongoing free plan and is not built to turn a long video into ranked clips or to generate a video from a topic. Shortzly finds the best moments in long video, exports with no watermark, and also writes faceless videos from a topic alone.

Why people look for a Submagic alternative
No ongoing free plan
Submagic starts at $19/month with no free tier. Shortzly lets you try Starter or Pro for 7 days for $1, including 5 clips and 2 faceless reels, before the regular price applies.
Built for captions, not for finding clips
Submagic is at its best adding captions and b-roll to short videos, and its Starter plan caps a video at about 2 minutes. Shortzly analyzes a full long video, scores every moment, and returns the strongest ones as ready clips.
It only works if you already have footage
Submagic edits video you already have. Shortzly also generates faceless videos from a topic alone - script, voiceover, visuals, and captions with no footage.
No hands-off publishing loop
Shortzly Pro can invent a topic, make the video, and publish it on a schedule. Submagic has no equivalent topic-to-publish Autopilot.
